CAS offers 24-hour programming showing titled clips of ballet, opera, modern dance, classical music, choral and chamber music, sculpture, painting, classic film, musical theater and much more. The clips are arranged in an eclectic order, so you’ll never know what’s coming next. Our hope is to inspire and delight our audience with the clips, to create greater interest in the classic arts. We show no commercials – just the world’s greatest performances.

CAS is free to any broadcaster, cable company or PEG channel — unscrambled, available 24 hours a day. We come to you via satellite (from Galaxy 17, Transponder 18C, analog and digital). You can do an air check of our show right now. Then, fill out the Application and fax it to us, and that’s it. You could start airing CAS today!

IRD Setup Parameters (SDTV and HDTV) Digital Transmission: Galaxy 17

Beginning on June 1, 2013, Classic Arts Showcase will transmit digitally for its SDTV and new HDTV program feeds.  The current analog transmission will be discontinued as of June 1, 2013.  Providers should transition from analog to digital by this date.

Outlined below are specifications for the SDTV and HDTV program feeds.  Both the SDTV and HDTV program feeds will be compressed using Cisco compression technology.  The SDTV program feed will utilize MPEG-2 technology, while the HDTV program feed will utilize MPEG-4 technology.  Classic Arts Showcase affiliates will be responsible for the provision of their own IRD acquisition.
